Based on a farm in the Buckinghamshire countryside, Animal Antiks is a charity committed to helping and supporting a diverse group of people with various mental health and disability needs by providing sessions with their large animal family, most of which are rescue animals.
Having been made aware that a local school had 60 known young carers attending, they decided to embark on helping by devising a new programme to support the mental health and wellbeing of these individuals. As young carers they often find it difficult juggling school and home lives, and they often feel alone and isolated.
This programme offers a visit to the Animal Antiks farm to meet the animals, help to walk and feed them and to spend time with them which helps to eliminate stress and take some respite from their caring responsibilities.
The generous donation from Matchroom Sport Charitable Foundation has enabled the charity to support and improve the lives of many young carers in the area, where over 2000 carers are currently registered.
The £5,000 has been spent on providing these farm therapy sessions, which will enable over 112 groups per year to attend.
