The Foundation supports those with visible differences with £30,000 donation to Changing Faces

Changing faces is a visible difference and disfigurement charity, working to improve the lives of those with a scar, mark or condition that makes them appear different. Their mission is to help individuals overcome appearance-related anxiety and discrimination, guiding them towards lives brimming with confidence and fulfillment.

Changing faces facilitate expert information, guidance, and support, allowing people to cultivate self-esteem, and develop coping strategies and resilience. Their work aims to create impactful campaigns that challenge discrimination, attitudes, behaviors, and systemic barriers to combat inequality.

One adult with an eye condition said: ‘My counsellor listened to me with empathy and understanding. I felt able to talk about anything with her. I now feel so much more confident and stronger. This has been a life-changing experience and I feel so grateful to have received your support. Thank you.’

Heather Blake, CEO of Changing Faces “Nearly one in five people in the UK self-identify as having a visible difference, and our research shows that they are often vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety, and low self-esteem – facing significant disadvantage in all areas of their lives; from access to education and getting jobs, to receiving the healthcare they need. There is a lot to do to achieve lasting change. That’s why we are so grateful to the Matchroom Sport Foundation who will play a significant role in helping us achieve our goal to grow our services and reach so that everyone with a visible difference can access the support they need and deserve.”
