Matchroom Foundation Powers up the Marillac

The Matchroom Charitable Foundation has donated £135,000 to the Marillac Neurological Care Centre, funding a full solar panel installation at the specialist neurological care facility in Brentwood.

The investment will significantly reduce Marillac’s long-term energy costs while supporting its mission to deliver exceptional care for adults living with complex neurological conditions.

Marillac provides specialist care and rehabilitation for 52 adults aged 18 and above who are navigating life after traumatic brain injury, spinal injury or progressive neurological illness.

While essential care is funded by the NHS, Marillac relies on charitable support to deliver projects that enhance residents’ physical and mental wellbeing. The solar installation represents a major step forward in securing the Centre’s long-term sustainability.

The installation will also offset the increased energy demand created by air-conditioning units fitted in residents’ rooms — a clinical necessity, as many neurological patients are unable to regulate their body temperature effectively.

Paul Dixon, Chief Executive Officer of Marillac, said:

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Matchroom Charitable Foundation for this truly spectacular donation. Your belief in our work and commitment to our residents’ wellbeing means so much to us and we are extremely grateful for this impactful contribution.

Your support towards the installation of solar panels will significantly reduce our electricity costs in the years to come, enabling us to redirect more resources into projects and services that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of those in our care.

Together with your previous support, these contributions have provided us with both stability and sustainability, and we can wholeheartedly say that Matchroom truly are the power behind the Marillac.”
