Steel Warriors was founded in 2017 by Ben Wintour and Pia Fontes with a bold mission: to rethink how we tackle knife crime.
Inspired by the staggering amount of knife steel collected by the police each month, they envisioned turning a symbol of violence into one of strength and resilience.
Their goal was to empower young people with the confidence to walk the streets unarmed, promote physical and mental wellbeing through accessible fitness, and create pathways for personal growth and success.
Starting with a single gym in Tower Hamlets, Steel Warriors has grown into a movement, now running six gyms and proving that lives can be built on steel, not destroyed by it. Through regular youth intervention programmes and open community sessions, we continue to build stronger, safer communities, one rep at a time.
