Age Well East is a local independent charity who’s mission is to support and empower people to age well.
Previously known as Age Concern Colchester & North East Essex, this compassionate charity provides transformative advice and welfare support to people in later years, which strengthens people’s independence and assists them with benefits, care, and housing options. They also connect communities of all ages through friendship to reduce social isolation, and they support those experiencing emotional, physical, or mental health challenges before they reach crisis. Age Well East has been supporting people in later years since 1950 and their knowledgeable staff and volunteers provide excellent support services which are easily available.
The donation from The Matchroom Sport Charitable Foundation is imperative in helping Age Well East continue to run its Welfare and Advice Service. This Service directly helps people in later years access income and health related benefits and entitlements by providing advice and information regarding benefits and entitlements, housing, Blue Badge disability parking permit applications, and assisting people to keep safe from increasing cybercrime and fraud.
Holistic 1:1 support is provided to fully meet individuals needs and circumstances, making sure clients receive the help they need to relieve their hardships and live with more stability and life satisfaction. In the period 2021/22 the service received increase in demand of 82% as compared to the year before and inward referrals continue to increase. This rapid rise reveals how more and more people are feeling the effects of the cost-of-living crisis already, and how urgent the situation has become.
Martin Jones, Operations Manager says “on behalf of Age Well East I would like to thank The Matchroom Sport Charitable Foundation for its generous support to our Welfare and Advice Service, this service has become a lifeline to many of our clients who we have supported and empowered through our help”.
