Matchroom Charitable Foundation are delighted to support Haven House with an annual £50,000 donation for the next three years.

Haven House is a hospice for babies, children and young people under 19 who have life limiting or life threatening conditions. They provide holistic round the clock care for 365 days a year to over 300 children and their families across North East London and Essex.

Matchroom’s donation is particularly targeted at supporting the end of life care that Haven’s House provide in their Butterfly suite and it’s accompanying family accommodation. For children in the final phases of their life, the Butterfly Suite provides a haven, with symptom management and care delivered by expert nursing staff 24/7. Their therapeutic offer of Music Therapy, Physiotherapy and Therapeutic Yoga supports pain relief, family bonding and comfort and their family support team offers counselling and spiritual support.

Quote from Justin Derbyshire, CEO at Haven House Children’s Hospice:
“We are deeply grateful to the Matchroom Foundation for their continued support of Haven House and our end-of-life care services. Their funding helps ensure that children and families receive compassionate, specialist care at the most difficult times.
“End of life care is one of the most complex and vital services we provide, requiring skilled, responsive support across hospice, hospital and home settings, often around the clock. Thanks to the Matchroom Foundation’s generosity, we are able to honour family choice, provide comfort and dignity for seriously ill children, and stand alongside families with expert care and emotional support when they need us most.”

Quote from a Haven House mum Rachel:
Rachel’s son Isaac lived for 18 days. Six of those days were spent at Haven House – days she describes as some of the most special her family shared with him. From taking Isaac into the snowdrop-filled gardens to walking with him to the café down the road, Haven House gave Rachel and her family the opportunity to create precious memories and experience real family time after ten days in hospital wards.

“The most important gift of that Haven House gave us was the confidence and ability to make sure our little soldier was comfortable and relaxed at all times during those difficult final days. We were able to spend Isaac’s last hours in private together, holding him close, singing to him, praying for him and making sure he knew he was loved and cherished more than anything.”
